  • Discount Domains sucks

    When my colleague first called discountdomainsuk in order to change the nameserves ip address he was somehow talked into transfering the domain away and having to pay 45. The lady Joanne Tranter was cold and impatient with him.

    I personally gave it a try. The girls was very cold on the telephone and interrupted me. She said that they couldn't transfer the domain back because it was now unlocked so it had nothing to do with them anymore and that we would have to pay to have the domain locked again.

    When I then contacted her again by email telling her that we couldnt carry out the transfer with our new hosting company because there was a typo on the registrars email address she corrected the admin typo and left the registrant email's typo. I then had to contact her again saying there was another typo on the registrants email address and she again said that the domain was transferred away and that it had nothing to do with them. How is it possible that she changed the admin email address but not the registrant email address

    The whole time I was dealing with discountdomainsuk I only spoke to one person except from the time I called after 5pm and someone picked up the phone after many attempts. That person was very kind and helpful but when I mentioned that the lady I spoke to before was cold he confirmed that he was only helping out and couldnt do anything about that.

    On many occasions I called and got through a voicemail asking to leave a message and in the few days I had to deal with them their live chat support is always offline. I sent an email at 6pm in the evening and didnt receive any feedback until I sent a reminder the morning after at 10:40 am. her responses when she did were rude and she even told me to stop spamming her inbox.

    They are obligated as a registrar to take reasonable steps to verify contact information in the event any person notifies the Registrar that contact information for a Registered Name is inaccurate. The Registrar also has obligations to act to correct inaccuracies in contact information that the Registrar becomes aware of even if the inaccuracy was not reported by anyone.

    However they were very reluctant to help. When I checked the whois details the day after to see if she had corrected to typo I realised that there was now a typo on all contacts technical and admin email addresses. Still she refused to update the typo which was on the registrant email address and because of that the new hosting company could not send us the transfer authorisation email. I had to escalate this issue with the new hosting company (LCN) and after many attempts they accepted to help us and got the registrant details updated and we eventually received the authorization email.

    When trying to contact them, it just rang and i got through an answer machine asking to leave a voicemail. Furthermore, their online support chat is always "Offline".

    This took 2 days to resolve due to the lack of competance and cooperation from discount domains uk and this cause a significant impact to our business.

    How can they be ICANN accredited if they are reluctant and not even capable of updating whois data accordingly?!
